MEET ASHLEY !

Hiiii! I'm Ashley, aka Dark Nebula. I've revolved around the sun 32 times so far ^_^ I am the founder/host of Jiu-jitsu Sisterhood. I started this project in hopes of inspiring women in the jiu-jitsu community and to get more eyes and spotlights on all the amazing women in this sport.

I also hope to foster a community of engagement, friendships, and excitement in watching women in jiu-jitsu. Some fun info about me is that I'm a Leooo lol! I was born and raised in Miami Florida and I've been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu here under Daniel Perez for 9 years and I am currently a brown belt. I love to have fun, socialize and get to know people, go on adventures, learn new things and be as creative as I can be!

In my free time, when I'm not doing jiu-jitsu, I'm probably spending time doing cosplay, arts and crafts, adventuring, watching anime, learning sciencey things and everything space-related, watching stuff about aliens, or having philosophical conversations with a dash of conspiracy 😂 If you love everything and anything jiu-jitsu related, then join our community! We'd love to meet you! ❤️

MEET EDELIA!

My name is Edelia; I’m 36 years young. I am the CO to Ashley, the founder/host. It wouldn’t be JiuJitsu Sisterhood if I didn’t tell you I’m a ♋️ LOL!

I’ve been practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu since late 2012 under Daniel Perez, and I'm currently a brown belt. I probably really got bit by the bug in early 2013. My life, quite LITERALLY (it's a Miami thing), became all consumed by the fire that is BJJ. Everything in my life came second to BJJ.

These days, though, things are a little different as I wear many hats. I can also confidently say that I lead a sort of enriched (not literally, maybe one day) life outside of the mats too. It’s a perspective that only came after years of learning how to balance this newfound passion with work, my social life, family relationships, and other hobbies – I'm a crafter too, y'all... shoot, even my feminine upkeep took a hit in my early days.

I want to share that wisdom. My goal with Jiu Jitsu Sisterhood is to create a space to help unify the women in the sport (art, way of life, whatever it is to you). Just as important as creating unity is giving us a voice in a male-dominated sport. I have met so many wonderful ladies along the way and look forward to meeting many more.
